The far-infrared spectrum of phases III and IV of solid CH4 have been investigated. Five bands were observed in phase III. Discontinuous changes in the linewidths and the emergence of a new band arc associated with the transition to phase IV. On the basis of the measured Griineisen parameters, the b

โฆ Synopsis
The volume and temperature dependences of the infrared absorption spectrum of phase II of CH, have been studied. One of the infraredactive translational modes was found to soften on approaching the transition to phase I. Mode of Griineisen parameters and the isothermal compressibility were obtained from the spectra.

The absorption spectrum of SiHq from 32 to 400 cm -' has revealed two soparatc bar.ds, one linear in density and one quadratic. From the linex band, the electric dipole moment produced in the ground vibronic state by centrifugal distortion effects has been estimated to be 9.3 X lob6 D in magnitude.
We have measured the frequencies of 17 transitions in the far-infrared spectrum of the hydroperoxyl radical, \(\mathrm{HO}_{2}\), from 2.5 to \(5.9 \mathrm{THz}\), encompassing rotational levels up to \(N=19\) and \(K_{-1}\) \(=5\). These measured transition frequencies are combined with previously
