โœฆ Synopsis

The integrated intcnsily of the far-infrared absorption of hydrogen chloride dissolved in carbon tctrachloridc has been mcasurcd. It agccs well with a value calculated from Gordon's sum rule, and indicates no apprcciablc collision-induced ab sorption.

Liquid carbon tetrachloride displays a far-infrared absorption spectrum which is primarily the result of collisional processes involving octapolar and bexadecapolar induction of dipole moments. These moments are modulated by both the rotational and translational motions of the CC4 molecules. The rot

The sp&of mixtures of tetiaal~iammonium halides and phenol in carbon tetrachloride have been compared in the ', mid and far infrared regjons. The saltc, exist in CC&in large aggxegates which are dissociated by phenol into ion pairs hy-: ., drogci borided tu'phenol and multisolvated anions.
