This article describes the difficulties which Hebrew-speaking students with learning differences face when learning English as a foreign language in Israel. It considers ways of identifying these students and describes methods used for providing support in foreign language learning. This includes an account of how the Israeli Ministry of Education provides for these students.

We will respond to Kahn-Horwitz, Roffman and Teitelbaum (1998) by raising two concerns. In their article the authors use the term 'LD' loosely to refer to 'learning differences', and we would be interested to have more details of the criteria by which these individuals were identified. (Most educato
