β¦ Synopsis
Ordered FePt 3 alloy nanowires have been electrodeposited into self-assembled anodic aluminum oxide templates. The radius of the FePt 3 nanowires is varied from 10 to 75 nm by controlling the synthesis conditions of the templates. Magnetization loops indicate that FePt 3 nanowire arrays that are 10 nm in radius have stronger magnetic anisotropy than those that are 75 nm in radius. The coercivity measured along the wire axis increases with decreasing wire radius and reaches a maximum of 1900 Oe at a radius of 10 nm. The magnetization reversal mechanism of these FePt 3 nanowire arrays is briefly discussed.
