โฆ Synopsis
The present investigation aims at producing cast aluminium alloy~lass particulate composites in a permanent mould by dispersing glass particles in molten aluminium alloy above the liquidus temperature, the size of the particles dispersed bein~ between 30 ~um to I00 ~am. The chemical nature of the dispersoid is borosilicate glass, the dispersoid being added from 5 to 15 wt. % in steps of 5%. The resulting composites in the permanent mould condition were tested for their mechanical properties. Good bonding was ensured with consistency in the matrix. However, it is found that the mechanical properties deteriorated as compared to those of the matrix alloy.
