โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

A rapid extraction and spectrophotometric determination of palladium with Nโ€pโ€chlorophenylbenzohydroxamic acid (Nโ€pโ€Clโ€BHA) is described. The palladium forms an orange coloured complex with Nโ€pโ€Clโ€BHA at pH 3.0. It is extracted with chlorobenzene and has a maximum absorbance at 430 nm. Its molar absorption coefficient is 7.0ร—10^2^ 1 mol^โˆ’1^ cm^โˆ’1^. The sensitivity of the Pdโ€pโ€Clโ€BHA complex is enhanced by the addition of dithizone and has a maximum absorbance at 520 nm with a molar absorption coefficient of 3.0ร—10^3^ 1 mol^โˆ’1^ cm^โˆ’1^. The effects of pH, solvents, reagent concentration and diverse ions are studied.

A selective method for the extraction and spectrophotometric determination of palladium with โฃ-benzilmonoxime (BZ) is described. BZ-Pd(II) complex was extracted from acidic aqueous solution (1.5 M sulfuric acid) into a chloroform layer. Absorbance was measured at 434 nm and molar absorptivity was fo
