Sarcomatoid carcinomas and carcinosarcomas are histologically malignant biphasic neoplasms with an epithelial and a spindle cell component. Both a polyclonal and a monoclonal origin have been postulated for these tumours, but the latter has been favoured. For carcinosarcoma, the stem cell from which
