โœฆ Synopsis

Stable transformed insect cell lines have been used for producing many highly processed heterologous proteins. Current research has focused on development of new expression and selection systems, and enhancement of vector stability. Defining the variation of modification and processing capabilities between cell lines will further enhance complex protein production from insect cells.

Insect cells are relatively cheap to maintain and are capable of producing accurately translated and correctly processed heterologous proteins. Recent research has focused on the development of improved expression vectors for continuous, high-level production of foreign proteins, including a number

Many eukaryotic proteins have been successfully expressed in insect cells infected with a recombinant baculovirus derived from the Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcNPV). There are, how- ever, disadvantages with this cell-based system when carried out in suspension cultures at hig
