โœฆ Synopsis

Multinuclear ('H, "C, lI9Sn) NMR data are presented for a series of compounds of the type XMe,SnCHRCHRCO,Me (X = Me, C1; R, R' = Me, Ph). Values of 'J(H, H), 'J(Sn, H) and 'J(S0, C) were used to assign the preferred conformations of these compounds and at the same time to test the empirical relationships proposed previously for 'J(Sn, C) and (indirectly) 'J(Sn, H); the validity of these relationsbips was confirmed.

In compounds of the type Me,SnCH,CHRSnMe, and Me,SiCH,CHRSnMe, , there is a linear relationship between ,J(H,H) and 3J(119Sn,1'9Sn) or 3J(119Sn,29Si), respectively, thus providing unequivocal evidence for a Karplus-type behaviour for the coupling constants 'J(' 19Sn,119Sn) and 3J("9Sn,29Si). A study by titrimetric methods of the donor strength of pyridine and aniline and some of their parasubstituted derivatives, and the J(119Sn-C-H) of their adducts with dimethyltin dichloride in nitrobenzene, has shown that the PKb of a Lewis base and its para-substituted derivatives varies linearly w

## Abstract Ph~3~SnN(SiMe~3~)~2~ (1) was prepared in good yields by reaction of [{NaN(SiMe~3~)~2~}~2~ยทTHF] (2) with Ph~3~SnF. Treatment of 1 with [H(OEt~2~)~2~][H~2~N{B(C~6~F~5~)~3~}~2~] (4) in dichloromethane afforded the stannylium cation [Ph~3~Sn(OEt~2~)][H~2~N{B(C~6~F~5~)~3~}~2~] (5), which was
