The compound 2,4\_dichlor~3'-meiyl-rrorls-stilhene is dimorphic. The two forms arc assigned "pair" and "stack" crystal strtictures on the basis of their cell dimensions and of the structures of the photodimers derivti from them. Escimer emission is observed from both forms, with that from the stack
