✦ Synopsis
We have determined the excess molar enthalpies H E of binary mixtures containing an m Ž . Ž ␣ , -dichloroalkane from 1,3-dichloropropane to 1,6-dichlorohexane and a 1-alkanol 1-. pentanol, or 1-hexanol using a Calvet microcalorimeter at the temperature T s 298.15 K and normal atmospheric pressure. All mixtures exhibit endothermic behaviour for the whole composition range. The experimental values were compared with values calculated from three versions of a UNIFAC group-contribution formalism. The experimental and calculated results are discussed in terms of molecular interactions and the proximity effect.

Measurements of excess enthalpies at T s 298.15 K are reported for binary mixtures of Ž . 2-ethoxyethanol q n-octane, or cyclohexane, or benzene . The excess enthalpies of all these Ž . systems were found to be positive. The 2-ethoxyethanol q benzene system shows asymmetric behaviour of H E with res
Excess molar enthalpies of (2-butanone + cyclohexane, or methylcyclohexane, or toluene, or chlorobenzene, or cyclohexanone) and excess molar heat capacities of (2-butanone + benzene, or toluene, or chlorobenzene, or cyclohexanone) were measured at T = 298.15 K. Aliphatic systems were endothermic and
A flow microcalorimeter of the Picker design was used to measure excess molar enthalpies H E m at the temperature 298.15 K over the whole composition range of several binary liquid mixtures formed from an alkanoic acid and either n-heptane, or cyclohexane, or benzene. The alkanoic acids selected wer
