Sporulation in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae occurs in diploid cells following starvation for glucose and nitrogen sources. A key gene in the regulation of the meiotic process is IME1. A well-documented fact is that respiration is necessary for sporulation. We now show that respiration is neces
