Abstract

It is shown that the changes in the molecular size distribution for high polymers undergoing random crosslinking and chain‐scission processes may be evaluated by means of the Monte Carlo sampling technique and a generalized asymptotic function. The technique is applied to an initial Schulz‐Zimm type of distribution and the resultant distribution, their moments, and the intrinsic viscosity in a theta solvent are evaluated as functions of the crosslinking and chain‐scission parameters.
