✦ Synopsis
The quasiclassical theory ofrotational relaxation processes is considered for CARS and Raman spectra of symmetric molecules. The kinetic equation is solved under arbitrary strength of collisions and the expressions describing the smoothed spectral contour are derived. The proposed processing of experimental data allows one to determine directly the cross sections of rotational energy relaxation and vibrational dephasing processes. In contrast to existing quantum scaling theories, the bandshape evaluation alg+ rithm does not require time-consuming numerical calculations and can be realized on a personal computer.
