✦ Synopsis

Objective To evaluate ionized calcium (cartridge EC6+) and blood gas (pH, pCO z and PO+; eadridge 03 +) measurement on a new thermoregulated version of the i-STAT. Methods The peffonnan~ of the i-STAT was evaluated against the Coming 634 (ionized calcium) and Coming 278 (pH, pCO z, PO,) by mmultaneous assay of randomly selected patient samples and specially lXelmed tonumetered whole blood specimens (total n-40). ReJults The coetticlente of variation (CV) for the measorenumt of ionized calcium were 1.26% and 1.28% at 1.584 mmol/L and 0.782 mmol/ L, reactively. The CVs obtained for the other analytes were as follows: pH (0.04% at pH 7,68 and 0.06% at pH 7.19~, pCO 2 (0.91% at 63.1 mm H8end 1.76% at 17.9 mm HS) end pOz (2.59% at 136.1 mm I-Is and 4.81 % at 68.8 mm HS). Compadson of medmda using iinesr resresmon yielded the foiiowin 8 results:

Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) was used to measure bone blood flow in the rabbit femoral head and femoral condyles. To correlate the LDF output signal blood cell flux to in vivo blood flow, simultaneous measurements using LDF and 85Sr-labeled microspheres were made in an adult rabbit model. There was
