✦ Synopsis
The non-H atoms of the title molecule, C 12 H 11 NO 3 , are nearly coplanar, with an r.m.s deviation of 0.054 A ˚. There are two intramolecular C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds. Pairs of the molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers via intermolecular C-HÁ Á Á interactions. The dimers are stacked along the a axis with weakinteractions.

In the title molecule, C 26 H 24 N 4 O 4 , the ethylcarboxylate plane forms a dihedral angle of 6.23 (7) with the indole ring system. In the crystal structure, pairs of molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by stronginteractions. The dimers are stacked along the b axis.
In the molecule of the title compound, C 10 H 8 ClNO 2 , the indole ring system is planar. In the crystal structure, the molecules are linked by intermolecular N-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, forming centrosymmetric dimers.
