β¦ Synopsis
Using the information on the nuclear structure of exotic neutron-rich halo nucleus 11 Be, we evaluate the parity violating anapole moment in its ground state. The resulting value ΞΊ( 11 Be) = 0.17 is fifteen times bigger than the typical value of the anapole moment of a normal nucleus of the same mass, and in fact exceeds by few times anapole moments of any known neutron-odd nuclei (e.g., ΞΊ( 11 Be) > 2|ΞΊ( 207 Pb)|. It is also few times bigger than the neutral current contribution to the lepton-nucleus interaction.

Recent solar observations at Pic du Midi are reported that yield a value of J2 = (2.57 4-2.36) x 10 -6 for the quadrupole moment of the Sun. These observations were conducted from July 1993 to July 1994 after several improvements of the scanning heliometer. This instrument operates by fast photoelec
The influence of a nuclear magnetic octupole moment on the hyperfine structure of spectra is discussed. It is shown that an effect of the order of magnitude deduced by T o 1 a n s k y cannot b\* explained by any model, which is not entirely in disagreement with present day views on the nucleus.
