✦ Synopsis

The influence of a nuclear magnetic octupole moment on the hyperfine structure of spectra is discussed. It is shown that an effect of the order of magnitude deduced by T o 1 a n s k y cannot b* explained by any model, which is not entirely in disagreement with present day views on the nucleus.
