The composition of the steam-volatile leaf oils of Fijian Ocimum basilicum L. (sweet basil) has been determined by the use of capillary gas-liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. The major components of the oils are methyl cinnamate, linalool, methyleugenol and eugenol.
