The composition of the essential oils isolated from the aerial parts of Teucrium heterophyllum L'HCr. collected during the flowering period and the vegetative phase of the plant, was analysed by GC and GC-MS. Both oils, which were obtained in a yield lower than 0.05% (vlw), were dominated by sesquit

✦ Synopsis
The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from the leaves and ¯owers of Nepeta cilicia Boiss. was examined by using capillary GC and GC±MS. Twenty-three constituents were identi®ed, accounting for 96.6% of the oil. The essential oil of N. cilicia was characterized by a high percentage of sesquiterpenes, mainly b-caryophyllene oxide (40.7%), b-caryophyllene (15.7%), a-copaene (7.3%) and b-cubebene (6.6%). No nepetalactones were found in the oil.
