✦ Synopsis


A novel, highly enantioselective (E ) 100) and environmentally benign method is presented for the kinetic resolution of trans-2-hydroxycyclohexanecarbonitrile in supercritical carbon dioxide. Using Candida antarctica Lipase B as a biocatalyst and vinyl acetate as an acyl donor, enantiomerically pure (1S,2R)-acetoxycyclohexanecarbonitrile and (1R,2S)-hydroxycyclohexanecarbonitrile were obtained in quantitative yields and excellent ee (98%) values.
