By combining the heat of dilution of a poly (y-benzyl L-glutamate)-dichloroacetic acid-1,2-dichloroethane solution with the corresponding heat of mixing of two solvents, the integrated heat of the coil-helix transition of poly(y-benzyl L-glutamate) in the solution was estimated to be about 750 cal/mole.
