## Abstract Longitudinal and transverse giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effects in micropatterned ribbons (Metglas^ยฎ^ 2714A) with meander structure are investigated. Abstract
A model for the enhanced giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in fieldโannealed Coโbased ribbon with a meander structure is developed. Three different kinds of ribbon are fabricated by a MEMS method and the field dependence of the GMI effect is measured at 10โMHz. Good agreement between theory and experiment shows the validity of this model. A larger change of inductance L in the meander structure results in the increasing of impedance Z and the enhanced GMI effect.
