## Abstract Several innate cellular antiviral factors exist in mammalian cells that prevent the replication of retroviruses. Among them, the tripartite motif protein (TRIM)5α has been shown to block human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV‐1) infection in several types of Old World monkey cells. He

✦ Synopsis
Abstract
Eight of forty (20%) human expressed breast milks enhanced the infectivity of human rotavirus (HRV) when assayed by immunofluorescence in a monkey kidney cell line (LLC‐MK~2~). This enhancement was demonstrated with two HRV strains, one derived from a fecal specimen of a child with acute gastroenteritis, the other a tissue culture adapted strain. The phenomenon could have important implications in the pathogenesis of HRV infections and in future vaccine programs.

## Methods Mitoxantrone was purchased from Lederle (France) and doxorubicin from Dakota (France). Stock solutions stored at Ϫ20°C (9 ϫ 10 Ϫ4 M for doxorubicin and 4 ϫ 10 Ϫ3 M for mitoxantrone) and dilutions of doxorubicin and mitoxantrone were freshly prepared in physiological saline solution, NaC
The AU565 breast carcinoma cell line was used to determine the role of the extracellular-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway in mediating Heregulin1 (HRG1)-induced mammary cell differentiation. ERK activation remained elevated for 2 h following high doses of HRG which induce differentiation. In contras
