✦ Synopsis

A method has been developed for continuous determination of the concentration of one ammo acid in a mixture, using electrodialysis combined with a flow-injection system. Using a non-specific ~-amino acid oxidase column and electrochemical detection of enzymatically produced hydrogen peroxide, the concentration of a particular amino acid in a mixture could be determined by first performing a separation step using an electrodialysis unit. Using the separation of arginine as a model system, it was possible to determine the concentration of this amino acid in the presence of two or three of a group of nine amino acids.

A method for the determination of branched-chain L-amino acids in plasma is described. Leucine dehydrogenase and NADH oxidase were co-immobilized on aminated poly(viny1 alcohol) beads and incorporated in a flow-injection system with chemiluminescence detection. 20 ~1 sample solution was injected int
