Swmnary -The reactivity of the anion of a,a,a-trifzuoroacetophenone oxime towards pnitrophenylacetate is considerably enhanced relative to that of the simiZarZy basic p-chZorophenoxide anion on addition 0-f Me2S0 to aqueous solutions. This is shown to be due to an enhanced stabiZization of the transition state for the oxime reaction.
