The 2014 International Conference on Engineering Management and Industrial Engineering (EMIE2014), Xiamen, China, October 16–17, 2014 has, as a major international convention, served both contributors as well as participants of the meeting well. In the late twentieth century, engineering management and industrial engineering, both dealing with the optimization of complex processes or systems, are mainly concerned with the development and improvement of integrated systems in industrial manufacture. During the convention, innovative ideas and studies were presented in many fields of engineering education and training, industrial management, and decision analysis.
