✦ Synopsis
A species which has the characteristics of shallowly trapped electrons, has been observed in an X-irradiated annezded methanol/water matrix. ?Ze species has a narrow slinglet ESR line iaH = 3.2 G) and is easily bleachable with Light OF wave- length 1000 nm. Furthermore, only 4 x lo3 h1 of the electron scavengers Hz02 and xrykmide is needed to hnive the ykldof this species. It is proposed that the species is a shallowly trapped electron, and that the shallow traps do not reku to deep traps in this matrix probably beuuse the matrk is partly crystalline after the annealing and the solvent molecules are less free to rotzte than in the glassy state.
