✦ Synopsis

The electronic stopping power of amorphous carbon targets for H 2 and H 3 molecular beams has been analysed within the framework of the dielectric formalism. Coulomb explosion between the partners of the molecule has been taken into account to evaluate the average stopping power ratio during the dwell time. The charge state of the fragments is assumed fully stripped. Analysis and comparison of the calculated stopping power ratio with experimental data show a reasonable agreement.

The three title compounds are found to form stable negatively charged states. Si2H2 exhibits two anion states (2A s and 2Bs) corresponding to adiabatic electron affinities (EAs) of 1.76 and 1.23 eV. Si2H3 has two stable anion states ( tA and 3A) associated with EAs of 2.20 and I. 17 eV. Disilene sho
