β¦ Synopsis
Room temperature electronic Raman scattering of Ce"+ -doped fluorozirconate fibres (ZBLAN) is reported. Optica1 spectra using cw laser excitation show one main band and broad structures at longer wavelengths with respect to the laser line. These bands are attributed to transitions from the ground state 'F s,2 to the excited multiplet 2F7,2 of the 4f' configuration of the Ces+ion.

Raman results of differently doped cuprate superconductors with one, two, and three CuO 2 layers are presented. It is shown that the observed continua originate predominantly from carrier excitations in the planes. For the normal state we obtain carrier relaxation rates which are in qualitative agre
