โœฆ Synopsis

Intramolecular electron transfer rates for ion formation in bridged donor/acceptor systems have been determined using fluorescence lifetime measurements. The data show a weak dependence of the rate on the donor/acceptor distance as well as a dependence on the electronic structure of the spacer. These findings are interpreted as evidence for an electronic coupling between donor and acceptor through the bridge, the magnitude of which is estimated on the basis of extended Htlckel MO calculations. * A similar approach was used in ref.

Photoinduced electron transfer rates are reported for a pair of rigid bichromophoric molecules, l(8) and 3( 8), in a variety of solvents. It was found that intramolecular electron transfer in l( ) is up to five times faster than in 3( 8). X-ray crystallography revealed that the cyclopentyl ring atta

Simple dispersion relations are derived which allow for the separation of the contributions of direct electron transfer and hole transfer to the total matrix element between donor and acceptor states in donor-bridge-acceptor charge transfer systems. The proposed relations are based on the calculatio
