✦ Synopsis

Cross sections for ion formation in'C + 02 collisidns have been measured JS a function of the kinetic energy up to 1.5 eV. Charge transfer is found to g+c rise to C+, O;, C-, 0; and frek electrons. Five processes lading to these ions have been'iden-Med. Reactive ionization is taking place, proceeding according to three proccsscs: C + Oz-Co' + 0 + e: Cd * Oyud CO f 0++e:

Metal atom beams of Al, Ba, Ta and Ti formed by cathode sputtering have been rmcted with an 0, mo!ecu-k beam, and the positive ionic products measured. The folIowing processes have been observed: M+Oz+MO~+e-(associative ionization), (electron transfer ionizhtion) , mr) and the product ion angular
