Abstract
The ground state of Gd^3+^ ions substituting for Y^3+^ in YAl~3~(BO~3~)~4~ single crystal has been studied by EPR method. Spin Hamiltonian parameters and their signs for Gd^3+^ ion in trigonal symmetry (g~z~β=β1.9893βΒ±β0.0002, g~x~β=βg~y~β=β1.9860βΒ±β0.0002; $b_2^0 $β=β386.15βΒ±β0.11; $b_4^0 $β=ββ12.65βΒ±β0.07; $b_6^0 $β=β0.35βΒ±β0.10) were determined. Structural phase transition manifested as a discontinuous change of splitting of spectrum was observed near 157βK.
