✦ Synopsis

Intensity data from glycerol dipalmitate single crystal electron diffraction patterns are used in a crystallographic analysis of the aliphatic chain packing in the a-form of the diglyceride. The phasing model based on a free methylene rotor gives a good fit to the observed data.

The progress of the solid state acyl shift of 1,2-diglycerides to 1,3-diglyeerides is followed at room temperature in single dipalmitin microcrystals by electron diffraction. The #'form, rather than the a-form of the 1,2-isomer, transforms to the 1,3 product. The #' form packs in the monoclinic para

Electron diffraction photographs of poly (a-aminoisohutyric acid) treated with dichloracetic acid are shown to be consistent with space group R3c. This is strong evidence for a hexagonal cell in which right-and left-handed 3lo-helices form a honeycomb structure. It appears that the dichloracetic aci
