β¦ Synopsis
When a molecule containing one unpalred electron undergoes rupture of an unsymmetrical bond to generate two separate molecules, there are at least two distinguishable ways inwhich the electrons can be apportioned. If the original molecule is a radical anion, the normal alternatives are those of eq. 1 and eq. 2.

## Abstract __Ab initio__ molecular orbital calculations are reported for the H~2~SSHΒ· and H~2~SClΒ· radicals and for the H~2~SClH^+Β·^ radical cation. The two neutral species are found to be very weakly bound van der Waals' complexes, whereas the H~2~SClH^+Β·^ radical cation is bound by 11.9 kcal mol
