✦ Synopsis
The electrochenucal oxldatlon of carbldopa [(SM -)_2_(3,4-dlhydroxybenzyl>2-hydrazmoproplomc actd monohydrate] was studled by hnear sweep voltammetry, cychc vokunmetry, nucrucoulometry and preparative electrolysis An ECCE mechamsm wrth two-electron transfer, followed by two chemical reactlons (decarboxylation and hydrolysis), were found, gwmg car&on dloxlde, hydrazrne and 3,4_dlhydroxyphenylacetone The final electrochenucal step may be a reversible two-electron oxldatlon process which uves the o-qumoldal analogue of the latter An analogous ondatlon mechanism was found when carbldopa was ondlzed with HBrCI, m hydrochlonc acid
