Electrochemical reduction ofcyclic and acyclic derivatives of 2,3-butanediol lo C,-hydrocarbons was examined. Among the derivatives, the cyclic sulphate was directly reduced to 2-butene; thediacatatc and dimethanesulphonatc also gave 2-butene but by indirect reduction with electrogenerated amalgam.

During an investigation of the electrochemical oxidation of some pteridines in this laboratory, it became necessary to detect and determine oxamide, an oxidation product . Very few methods have been described for the determination of oxamide. The reported methods generally involve alkaline hydrolysi
