A comparison of the behaviour of commercial electrochemical manganese dioxide (y\_MnO,) and non-stoichiometric anodic Mn,O,(OH), was made. Anodic oxide proves to he composed mainly by MnO, (ramsdellite) and MnOOH (manganite), and contains more water and OH-than y-MnO,. Hydroxide ions were shown to d
