Electra-chromatography
since its introduction In 1951 has proved to bc an effective analytical tool for the dctectmn, scparatlon and detcrminatton of both organic and inorgamc rons and for the study of the nature and the stablllty of the complexes.
MAJUMDAR ANI) MUKHER II:IZ' have successfully separated some of the sulphidc group clcmcnts from each other. Many attempts by workers in tlus flcld for the separation of elements, common and rare, have been made, though no systematic work on the study of the separability of the prcclous metals Pt, Pd, OS, Ir, Ru, Rh and Au has yet been made. LEDERJZR and his collaborators 2*3, however, tried the separation of Cu from Au, Pt and Pd, Hg from Pd and Pt from Pd.
The remarkable properties of the precious metals Pt+4, Ir+O, Os+d, Ru+3, Rh+3, Au+~, Pd+a, for complex formation have been used in an attempt, reported in this paper, to scparatc them from each other. From solutions of different groups of three or four clcmcnts it has been found possible to separate the clemcnts from each other in distmct zones when they are present in microgram quantities.
