Differential-capacitance/potential curves were measured at the interface between mercury and dilute aqueous solutions of HClO,, NaClO,, NaOH, CH,COOH and NH,OH. In the potential region near the zero-charge potential, the double-layer behaviour of these systems is in agreement with Grahame's theory.

The electric potential and reaction rates of ions hitting the chemically active surfaces of microcrystals in an asymmetric electrolyte are computed analytically. Following ideas of Debye we start by solving the Poisson-Boltzmann equations and by determining the electric potential of the transport eq
