β¦ Synopsis
EPRI [1,2] had published J estimation procedure and the results of numerical analyses for externally, axially cracked cylinder with an assumption that the material's stress-strain curve obey the Ramberg-Osgood law. These solutions are generally considered to be a good result for failure assessments of some engineering structures, However, those solutions may have some difficulty to be used for typical low-carbon steel whose stressstrain curve has not a shape of power law but a straight line and a parabola.

Further results on elasto-plastic response of flawed specimens by the Method of Lines are reported. Numerical results of stresses, displacements, the growth of plastic zone, and the Ji-integral are presented. Computations obtained include that for elastic response and that for elasto-plastic respons
