Die Aggressivitat der Schmelze stellt besondere Anforderringen an Tiegelmaterial und Schutzgas. Diirch Zorienreiiiigung erreicht man die spoktralarialytische Nachweisgrenze dor Verunreinigungen ( m 1 ppm). Hinweise arif mechanische, thermische und chomische Eigenschaften und die Weiterverarbcitung der Kristalle werderi gegeben.

The preparation of pure CdF, and of CdF, cryst,als by the Bridgman method is described in detail. The aggrevsivity of the melt requires special precantions concerning the crucible material and tho protecting gas. By zone melting the spectroanalytical detection limit of impurities ( m 1 ppm) is attained. Some remarks on the mechariical, thermal. and chemical properties of the crystals and on their further processing are given.
