Some of the planned new satellite communication systems will use satellite diversity, i.e. simultaneous transmission via two or more satellites, in order to enhance the quality of service. Starting from twostate Markov models for two separate land mobile satellite channels, a combined model for two

β¦ Synopsis
A novel class of adpative Kalman channel estimators (AKCEs) for low-data-rate signalling via the land mobile satellite (LMS) channel is presented in this paper. The proposed technique is based on a scheme known as the 'parallel processing algorithm' and assumes a discrete Gauss-Markov extension of the LMS channel model. Three different approaches compared against the non-adaptive filter show an improved estimation error variance under various environmental conditions. Trading off computational complexity and performance, the derived maximum a posteriori (MAP) approach has been found to be best applicable.

This paper presents a software simulator applicable to narrowband land mobile satellite channels, in urban environments. The simulator is based on a two-state model, and several statistical models, for the characterization of di!erent environments. A core procedure of the simulator is a Rayleigh mul
This paper gives a brief and systematic presentation of the computer simulation techniques of satellite communications, especially for a mobile satellite channel, based on a summarization of the author's exploration and experience in this area. It includes the equivalent complex baseband notation (E
This paper proposes a novel fade-compensation algorithm using a pilot symbol-aided technique for digital and mobile satellite systems. In a conventional pilot symbol-aided system, a pilot symbol from a known pseudorandom-symbol sequence is inserted periodically into the data-symbol sequence in the t
## Abstract The diffuse multipath component is studied in land mobile satellite (LMS) builtβup propagation scenarios. The method of physical optics (PO) was implemented to model scattering from rough building facades. The results in terms of received power timeβseries are used to obtain the average
