β¦ Synopsis
in this paper we re-examine the couplcd rate equations represcntative of coupled chemical reactions with an cxamplc of the Volterra-Lotka type model. We find that unlike in the previous analysis of stability of such systems, if we take into account the non-equilibrium corrections to the rate coeffΓcients in the macroscopic cquations, the systems which W.WZ othcrwise regarded as stable may no longer be stable and vice versa. It is pointad out that the stability or Iack of it, of systems become sensitively dependent on the nature of the molecules invclved in the systems, when the non-equilibrium corrections are included.
