Abscisic acid (ABA) was shown to influence turgor pressure and growth in wheat (Triticure aestivum L.) roots. At a concentrations of 25 mmol.m-a, ABA increased the turgor pressure of cells located within 1 cm of the tip by up to 450 kPa. At 4 to 5 cm from the root tip this concentration of ABA reduc
