A novel molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) system selective for D-phenylalanine is described where polymerization is performed in aqueous solution. The unique polymer system comprises a hydrophobic moiety-selective functional monomer, polymerizable b-cyclodextrin, an electrostatic interacting funct

β¦ Synopsis
The recognition ability of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) is largely governed by factors such as polymerization conditions, nature of crosslinking agents, and degree of crosslinking. In addition to these factors, monomers could also influence the ability of the MIPs to recognize the print molecules. MIPs based on 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate and N-vinyl pyrolidone imprinted for cholesterol and testosterone are prepared. The results show that the recognition ability strongly depends on the characteristics of monomer also, in addition to the nature of the print molecule.

Methyl b-cyclodextrin was modified by coupling 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate using hexamethylene diisocyanate as the coupling agent. The methyl b-cyclodextrin-coupled monomer was polymerized thermally using azobisisobutyronitrile as the initiator. The new polymer is insoluble in water and organic solv
Rate constants of quenching of triplet excited ketones by several monomers were determined through time-resolved laser spectroscopy or culled from the literature. The semi-empirical calculation method PM3 allows the quenching mechanisms to be refined and can be used to predict the reactivity of arom
L-Aromatic amino acid imprinted polymers were prepared using azobisnitriles as either photoinitiators or thermal initiators at temperature ranging from 4 to 60ΠC. Methacrylic acid (MAA) was used as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) was used as cross-linker. The result poly
