## Abstract The influence of crystal surface orientation on the graphitization of diamonds heated in vacuum to temperatures about 1700 ยฐC has been studied. It was found that the rate of graphitization is highest in the ใ€ˆ110ใ€‰ directions and lowest in the ใ€ˆ001ใ€‰ directions.
