โฆ Synopsis
The effect of recombinant human interleukin-6 (rhlL-6) on induction of nitrite (NO;) production was investigated in a mouse myeloid leukemia cell line ( M l ) and a subclone ( M m l ) . NO; was induced by rhlL-6 P.50 Uiml) in these cell lines. Pretreatment with rhlL-6 (100 Uiml) for 1 day synergistically enhanced the production of NO; in Mrnl by LPS. Furthermore, pretreatment with IL-6 (100 U/ml) shortened the lag time of induction. These results indicate that IL-6 is involved in the regulation of the NO, production in macrophdge-like cells.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) has been shown to be released by cultured human meningioma cells and may be a positive or negative regulator of tumour growth. IL-6 protein and mRNA levels have been examined in a series of meningiomas. In 14 cases, the results are compared with the effects of IL-6 and dexametha
