β¦ Synopsis
The two-step photoionization of Nan molecules m a molecular beam has been studied using both a smgle-mode and a multimode Ar+laser as the ionization light source Large reductions of the ionization efficiency occur as a result of optical pumping unless the excitation and ionization laser beams are appropriately focused.
