Abstract
The dielectric permittivity Ο΅ of BaTiO~3~ single crystals versus the temperature T at different hydrostatic pressure Ο, and Ο΅(Ο) at different T, was measured. The highest Ο achieved was 12 800 kg/cm^2^, between 22 Β°C and 180 Β°C. At Ο < 3500 kg/cm^2^, the Curie point T~c~ decreases at a rate of β4.3 Γ 10^β3^ Β°C cm^2^/kg which ceases to be constant for Ο > 3500 kg/cm^2^. The CurieβWeiss temperature falls with growing Ο. At higher Ο, the Curie constant rises with growing Ο. The Ο΅(Ο) graphs at constant T below 120 Β°C exhibit maxima related to an induced phase transition. Above 120 Β°C, Ο΅ decreases with growing Ο. βMemory of pressureβοΈ is observed on removal of high hydrostatic pressure.
